“I asked for a distraction… not a FIREBALL!”

If you are looking for a great jumping on point as a new reader, Green Hornet #20 is perfect for you. I have been wanting a place within this series that I could point people to and say, “here’s where you should begin” because even in today’s opportunities to get back issues fairly easily from local comic shops and digital retailers, a lot of readers want a clean jumping on point. This issue is a stand alone story that onnects both the previous Green Hornet and Kato with their predecessors by fighting the same criminal, but find their own unique ways to defeat him.
I have always said you need to have some fun in your comic reading list to round out your pull list and Green Hornet has always been that book that I have fun reading it. Even when there is a darker storyline like the Redhand there would be something to break the tension. Ande Parks really has come on to this series and made it his own and has given it a lot of life that I think some comic fans aren’t aware of because they haven’t tried out this series yet.

The art in this issue with Igor Vitorino, Ivan Nunes, and Marshall Dillion continues to improve and really develop a consistent look and feel for this series that I really like. There is nothing this crew seems to shy away from putting on the page from crazy looking tanks and a sleek looking Black Beauty to great action sequences and characters just standing around. I always enjoy watching an artistic team work together and see the development.

Green Hornet #20 is a solid issue from the writing to the artwork and is a great “new reader friendly” issue that I think all of you who aren’t reading this book need to pick up and give it a shot.

Script: 4 out of 5 | Art: 3 out of 5 | Overall: 3.5 out of 5
